UHV’s Flanagan, Spree-Kolos named to All-Region Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two UHV women's soccer players had their on-field efforts recognized by the United Soccer Coaches on Monday.
Senior midfielder Estelle Flanagan and graduate senior forward Kyleigh Spree-Kolos were named to the All-West Region team by the United Soccer Coaches. They are two of the 11 players which make up the All-West Region and 44 on each of the four All-Region teams. They are the first UHV women's players to earn All-Region honors since Kalyca Keramidis in 2022.
The attacking duo helped the Jaguars (11-6) to a historic season which included the best start in program history (5-0) and a trip to the Red River Athletic Conference tournament. Both were All-RRAC Second Team selections.
"We're so happy for Kyleigh and Estelle," said head coach Adrian Rigby. "Both were driving forces into our team all season and it's fitting the achieved these honors together."
Spree-Kolos, a graduate of Victoria East, made the most of her COVID year, transferring from Our Lady of the Lake University and setting the new single-season goals record with 14 in 17 appearances. She also tied the single-season points (goals+assists) record with 31. She set the new goals record with a hat trick on Senior Day against North American University.
In total, Spree-Kolos, who is pursuing a Masters of Education, scored 40 goals in 63 matches during her collegiate career.
"Receiving this award means so much to me," Spree-Kolos said. "I'm so thankful for being able to play my last year of college soccer at UHV. I'm grateful for the support of my family, teammates and the UHV coaching staff for pushing me to do my very best. I'm also truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to make it this far playing the sport I love."
Flanagan also capped her career on a high note.
The McKinney native netted eight goals and four assists in 17 matches to help UHV to its third-highest win total (11) this season and set the new individual career records for Games Played (76) and Games Started (69). Flanagan scored a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win against conference rival OLLU on Oct. 31 to power the Jaguars past the Saints for the second time in school history and first since 2012.
Flanagan was also a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree, recognizing her hard work in the classroom. The Business major is set to receive her Bachelor's Degree this week at UHV's Commencement.
"I'm truly honored to be selected to the All-Region team in my final season of soccer," Flanagan said. "I came to UHV wanting to work as hard as I could, and this year proved it. I couldn't have gotten here without my family, teammates and our coaching staff. Each of them pushed me to be the best player I could be for this team, so this award is for all of us."
