The UHV women's soccer team will make stops in New Orleans and Houston this week for Red River Athletic Conference play.
The Jaguars (5-4-5, 3-3-3) will face conference newcomers Xavier (La.) on Thursday at Lafreniere Park in Metaire, and North American on Saturday at Dulles High School. Both games are scheduled for 1 p.m.
UHV is hoping it can bounce back following defeats against LSU Alexandria (1-0) on Thursday and Louisiana Christian (3-2) on Saturday.
The Jaguars scored in spectacular fashion against the Wildcats last time out with Kaitlyn Kongdara scoring straight from a corner kick and Andrea Aborqui finding the net with a strike from 25 yards away.
It was the third goal of the year for both Kongdara, a junior, and Aborqui, a graduate senior.
Estelle Flanagan, a senior forward from McKinney, leads the team in goals and points (16) thanks to six goals and four assists. Kaydee Cox, a freshman from Lindale, has scored five goals in her debut year at UHV.
This will be the first meeting between the Jaguars and Xavier (7-4-0, 7-2-0). The Gold Nuggets are coming off a loss to Texas A&M-San Antonio last week.
UHV enters the week 1.5 games ahead of North American (5-6-0, 3-6-0) for the eighth and final RRAC Tournament spot with four matches left. This will be the second-ever meeting between the schools with the Jaguars earning a 5-0 non-conference win last year at home.
