Jags sit 3rd after first round of CAC Tournament
SMITHVILLE, Mo. – After the first day of the Continental Athletic Conference Tournament, the UHV women's golf team sits 18 shots off the lead.
The Jaguars sit in third place after shooting a team opening round of 345, which trails leader Our Lady of the Lake which shot an opening round 327 at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex.
Freshman Madeline Pate set the pace for the Jaguars with a 12-over-par 84 to sit in lone possession of sixth place after a day which saw only one of the 24 golfers shoot a sub-80 round. Pate had one hole worse than bogey in the first round.
Senior Emmily Bickelmann shot an 86 in the opening round to share seventh place with just two holes worse than bogey. Fellow senior Evelyn Nguyen also found herself in the Top 10 at T-9 following an 87 in Round 1.
Kaitlin Lopez (88, T-11) and Remme Trujillo (94, T-20) had the lone birdies for UHV.
UHV's tee times for the final round start at 8:40 a.m.
