Jags hosting Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern in tri-match
The UHV women's golf team will play at home for the first time this season on Tuesday.
The Jaguars will host NCAA Division I schools Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern in a tri-match at Victoria Country Club. It's one of four tournaments hosted by UHV this season.
"We're always excited to get to play at home," said head coach Garrett Adair. "We're familiar with the course and love being out there. Hopefully we can continue to build on our first two tournaments and put together another good performance against some good competition."
UHV has turned in back-to-back Top 5 finishes in its first two tournaments of the year with the Texas Intercollegiate and Waco River Classic.
Junior Emmily Bickelmann, a Coastal Georgia transfer, has impressed in her first two tournaments, averaging 79.2 strokes through five rounds this year.
Fellow junior Evelyn Nguyen also turned in a career-best round of 75 in the second round of the Texas Intercollegiate as she finished in the Top 15.
"It's been encouraging to see us play well early in the season," Adair said. "It gives us a good foundation that we can hopefully improve on this week."
Play starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday and will be one day only.
