A&M-Victoria places six on All-RRAC honors
The Texas A&M University-Victoria softball placed six student-athletes on the All‑Red River Athletic Conference teams, highlighted by two First Team selections, three additional honorees and one Champion of Character recipient, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Freshman catcher Kitty Coe (Kountze, Texas) earned First Team All‑Conference honors after a standout debut season behind the plate. Coe posted a batting average of .381, totaling 39 hits, 10 RBIs and 10 extra‑base hits while handling the pitching staff throughout the season.
Joining her on the First Team was junior third baseman Angelina Morales (Pasadena, Texas). Morales anchored the Jaguar infield and delivered consistently at the plate, finishing the season with a .381 batting average, a home run, a team-leading 30 RBIs and a fielding percentage of .939.
Freshman catcher Cristela Trevino (Alice, Texas) was named to the Second Team All‑Conference after producing a strong offensive year. Trevino recorded a .340 average, with 36 hits, 29 RBIs and 16 walks, while also providing defensive depth at catcher.
Two Jaguars received Honorable Mention All‑Conference recognition. Freshman pitcher Madelyn Butler (Leander, Texas) went 5‑2 in the circle with an ERA of 3.19, recording 11 strikeouts and five complete games. Junior utility player Alyssa Carter (Sugar Land, Texas) batted a team-leading .414, scored 36 runs and added 13 stolen bases and 29 RBIs.
Senior outfielder Kelsey Perez (Victoria, Texas) was named the program's Champion of Character for serving as a leader on and off the field through her commitment to sportsmanship, integrity and community service.
A&M-Victoria's first round RRAC Tournament game vs. Texas A&M-San Antonio on Thursday was postponed to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Wildcat Park on the campus of Louisiana Christian University.
