SAN ANTONIO – The Texas A&M University-Victoria men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking loss on Thursday.
The Jaguars fell, 1-0, to Texas A&M-San Antonio on the road after conceding a 90th minute goal.
A&M-Victoria (7-8-1, 3-5-1) had defended superbly for the first 89 minutes, holding A&M-San Antonio to 11 shots with just two on goal. The Jaguar counterparts from San Antonio had come in with the second-best offense in the conference prior to the game.
Senior goalkeeper Tyler Kaeppeli made a pair of saves.
Jack Dibble and Jacob Anderson had A&M-Victoria's best chances, forcing A&M-San Antonio's Dominic Pena into his two saves. Anderson's chance came in the 90th minute off a corner kick prior to A&M-San Antonio taking the lead.
A&M-Victoria is back at home on Saturday to face Our Lady of the Lake for Senior Day. Tyler Kaeppeli, Eric Thust, Felipe Rangel, Baillie O'Reilly and Yahir Pena will be recognized at halftime for their contributions to the program.
