Gratton leads charge for A&M-Victoria men’s golf on final day of RRAC Tournament
HOBBS, New Mexico – Brandon Gratton turned in one of the best-ever rounds of golf in Texas A&M University-Victoria men's golf history on Wednesday.
In the final round of the Red River Athletic Conference tournament, the sophomore used three eagles – believed to be the most in a single-round in program history – to shoot up eight spots on the leaderboard and finish sixth after going 81-80-68—229 at Rockwind Community Links. His showing on Wednesday led to an eight-spot climb on the leaderboard and his final-round 68 was the lowest of any golfer during the tournament.
After that performance, Gratton was named RRAC Golfer of the Year.
That was one of four improvements on the leaderboard for the Jaguars as they climbed to third place (320-322-288—930). The final-round 288 was the lowest final-round score among the field of seven teams.
The Jaguars edged out rivals Texas A&M-San Antonio by 12 strokes to secure the inaugural Battle of the Big Cats.
Lucky Boonsrirat and Florian Simon also finished inside the Top 10 for the Jaguars.
Boonsrirat closed his college career going 77-83-72—242 after a final round which saw him make four birdies to move up four spots.
Simon closed the tournament at two-under on the back nine to finish one over for the day and go 82-79-73—234. The freshman finished T-9 thanks to three total birdies.
Paul Chopin finished one stroke outside the Top 10 after going 80-80-75—235. The senior closed the tournament going two-under in the final three holes thanks to an eagle on the Par 5 16th hole.
Ethan Armendarez provided another one of the Jaguars' biggest jumps, moving up three spots to finish T-22. The Fort Worth native went 85-83-75—243.
The tournament concludes the 2025-26 season for the Jaguars.
