A&M-Victoria's Armendarez named RRAC Men's Golfer of the Week
WACO – Ethan Armendarez has quickly made a large impact on the Texas A&M University-Victoria men's golf team.
The sophomore made that evident during the Texas Wesleyan Spring Invitational last week at Squaw Creek Golf Club in Fort Worth, posting his first Top 10 finish after going 69-73-72—214 to finish T-9. That's coming off a T-22 finish in The Battle at Laughlin Ranch in Arizona, which saw Armendarez go 74-76-73 in a field which featured 15 teams ranked inside the Top 50 on Scoreboard Powered by Clippd.
His performance last week earned him Red River Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. He's the fifth Jaguar to win the award, joining Florian Simon, Paul Chopin, Lucky Boonsrirat and Brandon Gratton.
The Fort Worth native joined the program over the winter break after starting his career at Weatherford College in the junior college ranks.
Since joining the Jaguars, Armendarez has seen his national ranking climb 101 spots to No. 125.
He boasts a weighted scoring average of 72.9 this season.
The Jaguars are preparing for the 2026 RRAC Tournament April 27-28 at Rockwind Community Links in Hobbs, New Mexico.
