Dakiche wins second RRAC weekly honor
WACO – As Enzo Dakiche continues to light up the course, he continues to get recognized.
On Tuesday, the Red River Athletic Conference named the sophomore its Men's Golfer of the Week for the week of March 25-31. It's the second time this season Dakiche has taken home the weekly honor with the first coming after he won the Claud Jacobs Invitational Feb. 26-27.
"I'm very happy to be Golfer of the Week again after my performance in Arizona," Dakiche said. "I believe my game is trending in the right direction and I can fight for a win every week. I'm really proud of the team as a whole for the amount of effort we've put in. This tournament proved us that we can compete with the best teams in the nation. I'm confident we can do it again at nationals."
The Paris, France, native finished T-9 at Wayland Baptist's The Battle at Laughlin Ranch Golf Club in Bullhead City, Arizona, marking the sixth time in eight tournaments he's had a Top 10 finish.
His 73-69-75—217 helped the No. 18-ranked Jaguars finish seventh in a field of 17 teams which also featured eight other ranked teams.
The finish helped Dakiche move up to 36th in the individual national rankings on Scoreboard powered by Clippd.
Next, UHV will look to fine-tune its game at the Texas Wesleyan Spring Invite April 15-16 in Fort Worth, the team's final regular season tournament before hosting the Red River Athletic Conference tournament at the Victoria Country Club April 29-May 1.
"I'm really proud of the work Enzo has put in this season," said head coach Garrett Adair. "He's developed into a strong leader and it's shown. Thanks to his leadership, we feel confident we can have success at the conference tournament and hopefully beyond."
