A&M-Victoria baseball places record 11 on All-RRAC honors
The Texas A&M University–Victoria baseball team added another milestone to the 2026 season as 11 Jaguars earned all-conference recognition, spanning major superlatives, First Team, Second Team, Gold Glove and Champion of Character honors.
Senior right-hander Blane Zeplin was named Co-Pitcher of the Year and selected to the All-Conference First Team after posting a record of 10-1 with a team-leading 2.59 ERA across 80 innings pitched, striking out 106 batters and holding opponents to a .199 batting average. The Victoria native closed his career as one of the league's most reliable arms, posting six double-digit strikeout performanced.
Junior infielder Antonio Benitez earned Newcomer of the Year and First Team honors after batting .404 with 74 hits, 10 doubles, five triples, a home run and 32 RBIs while posting a single-season record 39 stolen bases in his first season with the Jaguars.
Freshman catcher Beck Zimmerman claimed Freshman of the Year recognition and a First Team selection after hitting .362 with 28 runs scored, 51 RBIs and throwing out 11 base runners this season. The Flatonia product quickly became a centerpiece on both sides of the ball.
Senior right-hander Jonathan Jones earned his second consecutive First Team honor after finishing the season with 11 wins, 85 strikeouts and a 3.01 ERA across 15 appearances for A&M–Victoria.
The Jaguars placed seven players on the All-Conference Second Team, beginning with junior infielder Garrett Smith, who recorded a .358 batting average, 63 hits and 58 RBIs while starting 48 games.
Graduate senior infielder Connor Kaiser was named Second Team All-Conference and earned a Gold Glove after committing just eight errors in 166 chances while also batting .329 with 44 RBIs.
Freshman infielder Ty Boozer collected Second Team honors after batting .331 with 14 extra-base hits and 23 RBIs in his debut season.
Senior catcher Roberto Olguin earned Second Team honors and a Gold Glove by throwing out 15 base runners and boasting a .981 fielding percentage while hitting .324 with 28 RBIs.
Junior outfielder Jackson Purcell garnered Second Team recognition and was named Champion of Character after batting .320 with 40 RBIs and making 65 defensive putouts in the outfield.
Junior right-hander Jacob Baker finished the year with 59 strikeouts and a 4.28 ERA in 73.2 innings, while senior right-hander Matthew Mejia posted five saves and three wins with 22 appearances to round out the Jaguars' Second Team selections.
The Jaguars take on Our Lady of the Lake at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the first game of the RRAC Championship Rounds at Pilot Field in Shreveport, Louisiana.
